Hey guys, it's Jake here at etrailer. Today, we have a 2019 Ford Ranger, and we're gonna be taking a look at, and I'm gonna show you how to install, the Roadmaster diode wiring kit for flat towing. Now the purpose of diode wiring is so that you can safely get the signals from the back of your motorhome to the back of your truck so that you can transfer them to let others know what your intentions are when you're goin' down the road. It's essentially just like trailer lights. You need to transfer the lighting from, if you're pulling a trailer with your truck, you need to transfer the lights from your truck to your trailer. That's the same thing when you're flat towing. more

Hey, guys, today we have a 2023 Ford Ranger, and we're gonna be checking out the Blue Ox Diode Wiring Kit for flat towing. Adding diode wiring to your Ranger is going to allow you to safely transfer the signals from your motor home to your taillights, so that you can let others know what your intentions are when you're going on the road. If you think of it a lot like trailer lights, if you're pulling a trailer, you have to have lights that are working on the back of your trailer. It goes the same to say for a vehicle being towed behind a motor home. You have to utilize the taillights to be able to let others know what your intentions are. Now, the diode wiring is not your only option for this. more

Hey guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today, we have a 2023 Ford Escape, and we're gonna be takin' a look at, and I'mma show you how to install the Roadmaster diode wiring kit. Adding diode wiring to your Escape is going to allow you to safely get the lighting signals from your motor home to the back of your taillights. This is going to be one of your three options, your main three options to getting lighting to the back of your vehicle, while you're flat towing your vehicle behind your motor home. The other two options are going to be the magnetic lights, which I'm sure you've seen, that you stick up on top of your vehicle. You run a four-pole wire up to the front bumper, and then you plug it into the back of your motor home. more

Hopkins Custom Tail Light Wiring Kit Installation - 2018 Ford Edge- Video
Hello, neighbors, it's Brad here at Etrailer. And today, we're taking a look at installing the Hopkins plug-in diode wiring on a 2018 Ford Edge. Normally, when it comes to diode wiring, you are having to cut into the wires of the brake lights and tie in those diodes using spade connectors, and Hopkins kind of made this easy for us because it's simply plug-in. So it's kind of like hooking up trailer wiring, it just snaps into factory-like connections, you run your wiring up to the front and you can tie that in using either the included four-pole that's attached or we used a six-pole on ours. And diode wiring is gonna send the light signal from the RV through the umbilical to the taillights on the vehicle and that way, you can get your turn signals, your brake lights, as well as your running lights. And that's just gonna keep you safe and legal while flat towing your vehicle. more

Now there's five main components required for flat towing a vehicle, and the first one's gonna be on the vehicle side and that's gonna be your base plate. And that's gonna create a solid attachment point to the frame of the vehicle that allows you to hook up to your tow bar. And the tow bar is gonna be the connection between the base plate on the towed vehicle and the hitch on the RV. You also have your safety cables. So just in case of an accidental disconnect you still have an attachment point from your base plate to the hitch on the RV. more

Hopkins Custom Tail Light Wiring Kit Installation - 2016 Ford F-150- Video
Brad here at etrailer, and today we're taking a look at installing the Hopkins Plug and Play Towed Vehicle Wiring Kit on a 2016 Ford F-150. Now, diode wiring is a really nice thing to have if you plan on flat towing quite often, and that's because a lot of other vehicles that you see flat towed, you're gonna see some magnetic lights that are stuck here, and a lot of times you can get wireless ones, but sometimes you have to run a cable all the way to the RV, and diode wiring is just nice, because when you plug in your umbilical, not only can you send 12 volt power through there to a charge line if you want to, but also you're gonna mimic all the turn signals, running lights, and brake lights on the towed vehicle. Now this kit is particularly nice, because this is plug and play. Now most diode wiring that I've seen throughout all the flat tow installations, you're chopping into the factory taillight wiring and splicing in spade connectors on a diode, not this one. This one plugs into the tow package on this F-150, making it super easy to just run your wire up to the front, and you're pretty much ready to go. Obviously, the best part, or the reason you would install diode wiring is because your vehicle pretty much becomes a trailer when you're flat towing it. more

Hello neighbors. It's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look and installing the Demco Diode Wiring on a 2021 Ford Ranger. Now when it comes to flat towing a vehicle, you need to make sure that you have your lights on the towed vehicle to let the people behind you know and many times you'll see magnetic lights or ones that you just kind of stick on. Well, the great part about diode wiring is, once you have it installed in your factory wires here, you're still gonna retain all your normal light functions but it's actually gonna mimic it based off the RV and that's done via the umbilical. So once the diodes are installed all you have to do is hook up the included umbilical here from our seven to six pole and that's gonna transmit all of our turning, running lights as well as our brake lights to keep you safe and legal. So what does a diode wiring kit actually do Well, it may be pretty straight forward to others, but some of you may not know. Essentially, it's gonna be transferring the signals from our motor home to that of our towed vehicle. So the reason that's important is for out driving on the road, you may not be able to see the motor home lights when you're driving behind or they may not be that visible. So by transferring the signals to our actual towed vehicle here, we're gonna be much safer. Let others around us know what's going on. more

Today, we have a 2013 Ford F-150, and we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Hopkins Custom Fit Tail Light Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles. But, before we do that, let's go ahead, check it out, and make sure this is something exactly what you're looking for. So, there's going to be a total of five main components needed to flat-tow your F-150 down the road safely: First one is going to be the base plate. That base plate is going to provide us with a solid and reliable connection point, that way, we can hook our tow bar up to it; And the tow bar is going to be the second component, and that's going to be the physical link connecting the front of your truck to the back in a motorhome; Third main component is going to be your safety cables, and these are there in the event of an unlucky disconnect, these are going to keep your truck connected to the motorhome; The fourth main component is going to be tow bar wiring, and the wiring is going to transfer the gliding signals from the back of your motorhome to the back of your truck, keeping you safe and legal; And last but not least is a braking system that's going to be the fifth main component. more

Hi there Ford owners, today on your 2012 Ford F150, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install Roadmaster's Diode wiring kit. These kits are available in a few different combinations depending on the cable that you would want to use for its connection, you can either get a coiled cable, a hybrid coiled to straight cable, a completely straight cable, these are all six bolt connections. There's also a four pole cable available and you can get it with no cable at all. And that's just gonna determine which one is gonna work best for you. It is based on the tow bar you get, whether the tow bar has channels or not. If it does have channels, I'd recommend a straight cable. more

Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today on our 2020 Ford Ranger, we're gonna be taking a look at, and showing you how to install the Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode wiring kit. So, here is a perfect example on how the kit is going to work. You can see we have the left turn signal going on the motorhome, and it's running that back here to eliminate the left turn signal on our Ranger. And not only are we going to get the left and right turn but also our running lights, as well as our brake lights. So here at the front of our vehicle, this four way flat connector is what you're going to plug in. Whenever you're ready to hook up. There are kits available that have a different type of connector here. A really common one is to have a seven way on one end, that'll plug into your motor home and a six way here at the front of your expedition. more

Hi, I'm Shane with e trailer dot com. Today I'm gonna be going over the five main components for a flat tow set-up on your 2018 Ford Edge. We're gonna have our braking system, our tow bar, our safety cables, our wiring, and our base plate. Now in the 2018 Ford Edge, when it's being flat towed, it requires the key to be in the on position. When the key's in the on position while it's being flat towed, it could potentially run your battery down if you're going on a long trip. You can disconnect your battery each time you wanna flat tow it, or, what I recommend is Roadmaster's battery shut-off. more
